PROTECTOR
The Story.
Catching the height of autumn colour back in November 2020, and of course, it was my local woodland...surprise surprise. If you read my descriptions often you'll know how much love a bit of mist or fog like pretty much all landscape photographers really, but in my area, you just don't get it that often and it usually occurs on the days I work, typical I know. However, this time the fog was ‘guaranteed’ in the forecast! I felt like I hit the jackpot on this very morning when I woke up to dense fog in the valley.
Instantly, I just knew I wasn't going to miss this chance. Rolling out of bed I got everything packed up and left the house with some speed. Taking a few quick captures of the dense fog around my town before the sun rose over the distant hills. Then Continuing my mad dash into the Woodland I came back down the forest slope on the other side kicking bits of soil and damp leaves as I hastily skidded down the bank with the aim to find more autumnal compositions, the timing couldn't have been more relevant, the mist thinned out and the sun started to rise over the adjacent horizon.
There…that moment of silence…that hit of adrenaline…that shower of calmness as I stepped forward to simply capture and spectate the scene in front of me. The light painted the atmosphere around me, extenuating the rusted bracken, gently glistening the golden leaves, and shining into my previously tired eyes.
Awed by the beauty around me, I was moved to slow down and take in as much of this special moment before it vanished into the thin crisp air. One Witness, One Short Moment in Nature and one Unforgettable Experience.
